This website is dedicated to the memory of the beloved David S. Denman, a talented fine artist, illustrator, playwright, set designer/painter, theatrical and film producer. (1961 - 2020)
A long time resident of Chicago, IL, Dave was a fine artist, creating artworks in the mediums of acrylic, watercolor, and pen & ink. He exhibited his artworks regularly at Anatomically Correct Arts exhibitions and attended their annual plein air painting festivals as an artist. See his recent art here.
He also created greeting cards and renditions of houses for residents and/or real estate professionals.

While he always maintained his love of the fine arts, he was most prolific in his theatrical pursuits. Over the years, he worked with many Chicago theater companies, including Lookingglass Theater Company, in helping them construct and paint their set designs. (He graduated with a degree in Theater from Westminster College in Pennsylvania in 1984.)
In 1992, he co-founded the National Pastime Theater Company, producing several successful plays such as The Visit, Yuba City and Einstein’s Dreams. Soon thereafter, he began his foray into playwrighting and filmmaking, where his writings were performed in the annual Abbie Hoffman Died for our Sins Play Festival in Chicago and where he produced several films, including The Ghost of Captain Lowe. In 1998, he established Clock Productions, his own theatrical and film production company, based in Chicago. Clock Productions' performances were held at various venues in Chicago, primarily at The National Pastime Theatre, and also at the Chopin Theater, Athenaeum Theater and City Lit Theater. Regional venues included productions in Michigan at the Kalamazoo Civic Center, Thunder Bay Theater, and the Whitehall Theater. |

Several years ago, he joined the Board of the Accidental Shakespeare Company, based in Chicago, IL. Until just before his passing in December 2020, he was working on a series of short stories for the stage based on children's fables and was about to publish Six Scary Short Stories. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and the arts community. |
